Journally Privacy Policy

Overview

Journally ("the App") is a voice journal app developed by Futuron Inc. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data Collection

Voice Recordings: All voice recordings are processed entirely on your device using Apple's Speech framework. Audio never leaves your phone. We do not store, transmit, or have access to your voice recordings.

Journal Transcripts: When you complete a check-in, the text transcript of your entry is sent to our secure server (Cloudflare Worker) which forwards it to OpenAI's API to generate AI-powered insights. Only the text transcript and your selected tags are transmitted — never audio.

Personal Information: Your name, bio, and journal mode preferences are stored locally on your device only. We do not collect or transmit this information.

Mood & Entry Data: All journal entries, mood scores, tags, and insights are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not have access to this data.

Third-Party Services

OpenAI: Text transcripts are sent to OpenAI's GPT API via our Cloudflare Worker proxy to generate emotional insights, mood analysis, and reflections. OpenAI's data usage policy applies to this processing. OpenAI does not use API data to train models. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

Apple StoreKit: Subscription purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect or store payment information.

Data We Do NOT Collect

No account registration required
No email addresses
No location data
No device identifiers (except Apple's identifierForVendor for rate limiting)
No analytics or tracking SDKs
No advertising
No cookies

AI Consent

Before any data is sent to AI services, the App presents an in-app consent screen that clearly explains what data is shared, with whom, and for what purpose. You must explicitly consent before AI features are activated.

Data Retention

All journal data is stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, all data is permanently removed. We do not retain any copies of your data on our servers. Transcripts sent to OpenAI are processed in real-time and not stored by our proxy.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your Rights

Since all data is stored on your device, you have full control. Delete entries within the app or delete the app to remove all data.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
